Just as the protest against the much debated coal-based Chamalapura power plant was gaining heat here on Wednesday, it led to a major scuffle between protesters and police personnel. Police resorted to mild use of force to disperse the crowds.
However, one police constable seems to have used another route altogether.
Though there were women cops on the spot, they barely came close to the protestors; let alone managing the women protesters. It was only male police personnel who tried dispersing the striking farmers and women. In clear violation of law, this woman has been handled by male constable. The incident has taken place in the full glare of media, hundreds of protestors on the spot and with senior officers like DCP K T Balakrishna, ACP Ganesh and others.
Does this photo reflect the mindset of law enforcement agencies? Mr Bhaskar Rao, the Commissioner of Police - Mysore city can perhaps explain better.
