Celebrating our national sport
On the occasion of Indias 60th year of independence, Radio City 91.1 FM celebrated the day with a host of contests and activities.

To commemorate 60 glorious years, the channel gave listeners the freedom to listen to their favourite songs for 60 minutes back to back and across nine cities — Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Vadodara — through music creating a sense of unity among Indians.
The radio channel in Bangalore saluted the spirit of independence with a tribute to India’s national game – Hockey — wherein the channel hosted a fun-filled '5-a-side' hockey match at the Karnataka State Hockey Association Stadium. The teams comprised of RJs  along with listeners. The star attraction, though, was Arjuna Awardee and India's ace hockey goalkeeper Ashish Ballal.
“The idea was to connect with people on a much larger humanitarian level – not only as innovative infotainers but also as a conscientious organisation sensitised to the needs of the society we live in,” Rana Barua, National Head Marketing, Radio City was quoted as saying in a release.
According to a release, a listener, who participated in the match was ecstatic at being given an opportunity to celebrate Independence day with the RJs as well as with Ashish Ballal.
