Puppetry and storytelling
Academy of Storytelling is organising a puppetry workshop. The one-day workshop will be conducted by academician Lata Satagopan. She has trained college students, professionals and teachers with life-skill training programmes, computers and puppetry. Lata specialises in creating new ideas to make puppetry an innovative medium for storytelling.
The workshop is spread over three sessions, which include introduction to puppets as a storytelling aid, demonstration of the different types of puppets and manipulation and puppet-making using gloves, cones and sticks.
The second session will include making of 3D puppets followed by group presentations. The participants need to bring their own scissors, pencils and erasers. other materials such as paper, cloth and sticks will be provided.

Wildlife trek
A wildlife trek is being organised at Kadumane Estate,Sakleshpur. Kadumane Estate is a low elevation tea estate, spread over 1000 acres. One can look out for wildlife here ranging from mouse deer, elephant, reptiles, amphibians to birds. Gerry Martin, India 's only ever National Geographic Channel adventurer will lead the program and share his experience in the wilderness with the trekking team. Activities include mountain ridge trek, jummaring to target jump, wildlife tracking.
The team will depart on September 7 at 11:30 pm and will arrive on September 9 at 11:30 pm. The team will be put up at the Estate bungalow and will be given sleeping bags. For details contact 9886169698. The last date for registration is August 25.
Outdoor adventure forum
A one-day symposium, titled Outward Bound, highlighting the potential of adventure sports and outward bound training and activities is being organised by Essen Communications. The proposed symposium will have an array of panel discussions and presentations by field experts relating to aqua sports, wildlife tourism, aero sports and terrestrial activities besides rushes of adventure destinations and activities by outdoor outfits.
Offbeat outdoor activities like cave exploration, heritage trails, village games and cross country cycling trails will also be covered.
Other highlights include a photography exhibition displaying varied outdoor activities and a display of adventure gear. Tour operators, travel agents, corporate executives, government officials, stakeholders in tourism, educational institutions, HR personnel, adventure tour operators, promoters and clubs will participate in this one-day symposium.
