Goa Congress MLA Victoria Fernandes who rebelled against the Digambar Kamat government by ‘resigning’ from the State assembly last month, has withdrawn a writ petition filed before the Panjim Bench of the Bombay High Court.
The rebel MLA’s petition moved earlier this month, had asked the court to direct Speaker Pratapsingh Rane to accept her resignation from the House. On Tuesday, Fernandes’ counsel A S Nadkarni told the bench specially constituted to hear her case, that the MLA did not wish to pursue her plea. Last week, Fernandes also wrote to the Speaker seeking to withdraw her resignation. Fernandes’ rebellion and tie-up with the GDA had almost brought down the Kamat government.
