On Wednesday, Behenji’s face beamed from all the newspapers. Huge posters of hers adorned all the roads, too. The occasion was the completion of 100 days of her government.
Most pictures showed Behenji in her trademark peach suit, with a dupatta thrown across the neck, adorned with a solid gold necklace.
At the Ganna Sansthan auditorium, where the official 100-day celebrations were held, Mayawati recounted the list of her achievements and started by congratulating herself for forming the government as soon as the election results were announced. She hinted at other celebrations to follow by promising an auditorium six times the capacity of the one where her speech was read out.
She spoke out against those who were accusing her of gobbling up prime estate to erect memorials for party founder Kanshi Ram and Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
