Annual cultural “Gaganachukki falls” festival will be held at Shivanasamudra in Mandya district on August 25 and 26.
Folk dances, musical concerts, bharatanatyam, dance ballets are among other programmes organised during the two-day festival to promote tourism at Shivanasamudra. The festival will end with a grand fireworks on the night of August 26. As many as 50 special KSRTC buses will ply on both days from different taluks in the district as well as from Mysore, Chamarajanagar and Bangalore.
Briefing the reporters about the festival, Transport Minister Chaluvarayaswamy said the government is planning to construct a rope way connecting the Gaganachukki and Bharachukki falls to attract more tourists. Construction of rope way would reduce the travel distance between the two falls to 2 km from the existing 12 km besides acting as another attraction, he added.
The government has also proposed to build a bypass road to connect Shivanasamudra to National Highway 209 for the convenience of tourists.
