CM to inaugurate new districts
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will inaugurate the newly constituted Ramanagara and Chikkaballapur districts at 10 am and 12.20 pm respectively on Thursday. Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and other cabinet ministers will also be present.

KPCL trains foreign delegates
A team of 23 foreign delegates from South Asian countries on Wednesday held detailed discussions with Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) Officials on the power situation and issues related to power development in Karnataka.
The delegates participated in programme on ‘ Audit of Information Technology’, which mainly deals with the set up of the working  conditions of Information systems in India apart from undergoing training with KPCL Officers and Accountant General, Karnataka officers.

New rly booking office opens
The new booking office of Indian Railways was inaugurated at the Krishnarajapuram railway station on Wednesday.
South Western Railway General Manager Praveen Kumar said this would benefit residents of Krishnarajapuram, Lingarajapuram, Whitefield and areas near the Old Madras Road. He said the Railways plans to develop the KR Puram Railway Station as a model station, for which Rs 3 crore would be spent.

Shikshana Adalat on August 31
Shikshana Adalat will be held on August 31 regarding Department of Pre University Education and Vocational Education at the office of Commissioner, Department of Pre University Education, Sampige Road, 18th Cross, Malleswaram. Minister for Primary and Secondary Education will preside over.

Panel on taluks’ reorganisation

The State Government is planning to set up a committee to look into a proposal to re-organise taluks in the State.
The proposal will be placed before the State Cabinet, which is scheduled to meet on Thursday. The committee would look into the proposal to re-organise taluks that are big in size and to create uniformity among taluks. The committee will have six months’ time to submit its report, officials said.

Jewellery heist: One more held
Hassan, dhns: Hassan police have arrested one person in the Chemmanur Jewellers theft case and seized gold weighing 2.3 kg valued at Rs 16 lakh.
SP Panduranga Rane said that on Wednesday night, Naga alias Swamy Gowda was arrested from Puradahalli in Chennarayapatna taluk. He was hiding in his brother in law’s house after collecting a part of the loot.
Naga had earlier served a 10-year jail term in connection with a dacoity in Mumbai. He was released four months ago.
Meanwhile, according to a Mangalore report,  Umesh Shetty, who was arrested near near Boliyar in Mudipu, has been remanded to judicial custody till  September 4.
Police also grilled the three arrested in Koppa town at an undisclosed location. The accused will be taken to Bangalore.

B’lore chosen for nano centre
Bangalore, dhns: Bangalore has been shortlisted for setting up one of the six centres for nano-technology research and product development. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, renowned scientist Prof C N R Rao said nano-technology has immense potential in medicine, healthcare and aerospace.
Bangalore Nano- 2007, a first of its kind event in the country showcasing applications in nano-technology, will be held in Bangalore on December 6 and 7.
IT and BT Secretary M N Vidyashankar said the theme of the event - “Bridging the research-industry gap in nano-technology” is expected to attract leading investors, scientists and heads of research bodies.
