For the first time, Bangalore University will award fellowship for the first rank student in the Ph.D entrance exam in various faculties.The rank list will be considered based on marks scored at the entrance exam and in post graduate course. Simply put, 50 per cent of marks would be taken from entrance test and 50 per cent of marks from the post graduate course.
The rank-holders will be given Rs 2,500 in the first and second year and Rs 3,000 in the third and fourth year to support their research activities. The Academic Council has decided to re-advertise for the reader, lecturer and professor posts in electronic media, apparel technology and environmental science departments.
The Local Inquiry Committee visited 17 BEd and one BPEd college for fresh affiliation but decided not to recommend affiliation to these colleges as they lacked infrastructure.
However, it has recommended affiliation to 15 government colleges and additional course of affiliation to 14 government colleges. Four colleges have been recommend for fresh affiliation for five-year integrated MTA courses. They are:
K L E Society S Nijalingappa College, Bangalore; Gold Field School of Administrative Studies, Kolar; Sitadevi Ratan Chand Nahar Adarsh College, Bangalore and Acharya Institute of Management Studies and Science, Bangalore.
The intake for all colleges is 30, except for K L E Society S Nijalingappa college with an intake of 40.
