Former deputy chief minister Siddaramaiah held padayatra and public contact meet in Kesare and RS Naidu Nagar here on Thursday.
Siddaramaiah who started his padayatra from Kesare took note of grievances by moving from door-to-door before arriving at the place near a bus stop in RS Naidunagar where he held a public contact meet.
Pouring in their complaints people of the vicinity, said that anomaly in distribution of ration cards has caused them a great deal of inconvenience.
They charged that they have not been given new ration cards, while the officials have taken no step to issue ration for old cards. This has made life miserable for them, they rued.
On being enquired about this, the officials of Food and Civil Supplies Deparment said that they will be issuing ration cards to those who have already submitted applications seeking the same from coming Monday.
However, Siddaramaiah told people to wait till September 10 and come back to him if they are not given ration cards and he will initiate necessary steps. Meanwhile, the members of the public also complained that they are getting water only twice a week and that too bore well water.
Solve problems
The former deputy chief minister directed Assistant Executive Engineer of Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW) Kariyappagowda and take measures to solve the problem. He also instructed the officials concerned to properly develop parks, repair roads and street lights.
Later, after attending functions in the city, Siddaramaiah conducted padayatra and grievances meet in Bharathnagar, Nehrunagar and Rajivnagar in the evening.
