In a major shift in the bureaucratic set-up in the heritage city, P Manivannan, an IAS officer who played crucial role in clearing illegal shops and encroachments in Hubli-Dharwad twin cities has been transferred to Mysore. He will assume the post of Mysore Urban Development Authority Commissioner as directed by the state government. Prior to this, Manivannan served as Deputy Commissioner of Karwar. He will also don the role of Mysore City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner in addition. Quite curiously, new posting for Dr K N Chandrashekhar, who served as MCC Commissioner so far, is undecided.
Deputy Commissioner of Mysore - S Selvakumar has also been transfered. He is awaiting the orders of his new posting. Bangalore Urban Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Chennappa Gowda has been transferred to his place.
Selvakumar with his down-to-earth nature had won many friends across the media and bureaucracy, maintaining his cool even in the midst of major politicial pressure exerted on him. The post of MUDA Commissioner was vacant for a long time ever since the transfer of Pankaj Kumar Pandey. Director of Abdul Nazeer Sab State Institute for Rural Development (ANSSIRD) H S Ashokanand was given additional charge as MUDA Commissioner.
