All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) is launching a new course, Diploma in Hearing, Language and Speech program through distance learning with the help of state-of-art video conference equipment, according to a press release. This will connect AIISH with four other institutions across the country. The course will be introduced in Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), Delhi, Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, and All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AIIPMR), Mumbai. AIISH - Mysore is first among five institutions in the country to establish connectivity for video conference; facilitating interaction between students across centres.
Dr R K Srivastava, Director General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will inaugurate the course. Monthly public lecture on hearing impairment, stuttering and mental retardation will be inaugurated.
