Maharaja Education Trust is setting up an engineering college named the Maharaja Institute of Technology, said Dr K B Boraiah, principal of the upcoming college, at a press meet in Mysore on Thursday.
Around 12.04 acres has been set aside for the purpose, he said. Approval has also been received from AICTE, Viveswaraya Technological University and Government of Karnataka.
The institute will offer courses in computer science and engineering, electronics and communication, information science and mechanical engineering. Students attaining more than 80 per cent will get free seats, he said.
Also, students of the college who obtain 85 per cent in the first year will get 50 per concession in their fees in the second year.
