Mammooty in Bengaluru
Shibu B S

He, along with his equally versatile and popular face of Malayalam movie marquee, are like twin sides of a coin.
The winsome-twosome celluloid heroes of the God’s Own Country — Mammootty and Mohanlal, not only rule roost in Kerala. The two iconic faces of popular Malayalam  films also enjoy legion of fan following in Bangarada Manushya’s very own Karnataka as well.
In an expression of their loyalty and admiration, as also provide several others who too swear by Muhammed Kutty aka Mammootty chance to get up, personal and close with their swashbuckling hero, the Karnataka Mammootty Club, on Wednesday, launched the website  www. mymammootty.com
The digital domain, that was clicked off under the hallowed precincts of the Holy Ghost Church in Fraser Town, under the aegies of Karnataka State Mammootty Fans Welfare Association (KSMFA), had the actor himself doing the honours much to the delight of his die-hards.
The flash supported web portal contains all details about the actor, his latest films, and boasts of interactive forums and a photo gallery. Indeed, this is the first time that a registered association and website has been launched in the name of a Malayali actor in Karnataka.
“I strongly feel that fans associations are not just meant to sit and whistle in theatres when a film is released,” Mammooty told Metrolife.
“In my case, they are into welfare activities because I know that whistling alone will not get the audience to watch a film,” said the three time National film Awards for Best Actor winner in his take on fans’ association.
Stressing that his fans association is called Mammootty Fans and Welfare Association, the Padma Shri awardee said he hoped that in Karnataka too, his loyal fans and admirers will undertake several welfare activities.
Expressing his deepest respect, regards, and fond admiration for the Kannada thespian and iconic legend late Dr Rajkumar, he observed that film fans “of whomsoever they may be, an association or an organisation or an individual, should carry forward the culture of their state and respect the history of that state and work towards the growth of the nation without any selfishness.”
The actor, whose Syamaprasad directed Ore Kadal, is all set for the festive season Onam release said that currently he was very busy with several projects on the floor in Malayalam itself that he hardly finds time to take on similar assignments in other languages.  Incidentally, he will be completing the Tamil film Vande Mataram this year where he is seen with the Tamil star Arjun.
One other film that will be avidly awaited by his fans is Pazhassiraja, a very very special project for Mammootty scripted by his Guru — the eminent Malayalam writer M T Vasudevan Nair, and directed by the versatile auteur Hariharan.
The trio had last join forces for the 1989 Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha which went on to win Mammootty one of National Best Actor Award.
KSMFWA Patron R V Nair, President Biju Nair, General Secretary Anilraj Pillai, and Legal Advisor Pramod B L are the brains behind the www. mymammootty.com initiative.
