Have you ever felt an urge, a craving for something, something that you want, something that you want to eat, to digest and relish? I did get this very urge to gobble last week after I returned from school. It may seem odd, but at that moment I wanted nothing but a chicken sandwich. But Mom had prepared dal roti for me so I had to create a drama, show my temper tantrums and shed a few tears to convince her to make a delicious sandwich for me.
And guess what? I did the drama and my mom fell for it and went to the kitchen to make me a special chicken sandwich. I may say, this sandwich of hers is not only delicious but also very nutritious. It has everything from tomatoes to cabbage and even carrots and it also has my best food; chicken. A huge, fleshy, juicy, mouth watering chicken sausage.
No sooner did my mom keep the plate in front of me, than my teeth plunged into it, first the bread, then the cabbage and other vegetables and finally the grand prize of them all, the meat. I did not gulp it, I rather chewed it with my molars and cut it with my canines. Then my saliva got mixed with the chicken, it then formed a mass and went through the food pipe.
After reaching the stomach, it was washed in gastric juices so that my little tummy would not be harmed by worms. Then the sandwich made its entry into the small intestine, though it is not very small, infact it is longer than the large intestine, weird!
Anyway there it got mixed with my blood and was carried to each and every part of my body so that every one (in my body) could get the taste of this delicious -sandwich. After this digestion the waste (or junk) was collected in the large intestine. Back to the point; there ends the journey of the delicious chicken sandwich through my gut.
This one is for all the moms out there - chicken sandwich may seem to be junk, but you can make it nutritious by putting your stuff (vegetables) into it along with that juicy piece of chicken.
(My apologies to the reader if I disgusted you with the description about my Insides).
