Listless Karnataka crash out
Chennai, Chennai:

Australia XI defeated Rajasthan by 33 runs to enter the semifinals, while reigning champions TNCA XI and Kerala recorded outright wins to gain full points in the third and the last set of league matches in the Buchi Babu all-India cricket tournament here on Saturday.
Australia completed their league engagements winning all the three matches in the league phase and topped Group D. Resuming at four for no loss in their second essay after forcing a 42-run lead, the Aussies scored 208 losing six wickets in the stipulated 45 overs with Luke Pomersbach top scoring with 52. Chasing a stiff target of 251 for win, Rajasthan were bowled out for 217 in 41.4 overs.
Chasing an easy target of 72 to win, TNCA reached it in 20.4 overs, guided by captain , left-hander Abhinav Mukund’s 25 off 40 balls with the help of three fours.
Earlier, after forcing a lead of 100 runs in the first innings, TNCA bowled out Karnataka for 171in 38 overs in the second innings with off-spinner R Ashwin getting on top of the rival batsmen claiming six wickts for 69 runs. Medium pacer  MR Srinivas claimed three for 47.
Resuming their first innings at 142 for 5, TNCA XI scored 215 in 72 overs, capped by a fine knock of 73 off 155 balls with 11 fours by Anirudha Srikkanth.
KH Gopinath chipped in with 52 off 68 balls with seven fours and a six. Ashwin scored 32 off 57 balls with five fours.
While TNCA XI garnered 19 points from three mtches, KSCA who drew a blank again in the final league match, returned home with a meagre five points.
In other matches of the day, Mumbai, Punjab, Districts and Gujarat gained first innings leads against their rivals.
Brief scores: Karnataka: 115 and 171 all out in 38 overs (C Raghu 36, Sudhindra Shinde 55; R Ashwin 6-69, M R Srinivas 3-47) lt to Tamil Nadu 215 all out in 72 overs (S Anirudha 73, K H Gopinath 52, R Ashwin 32; Mohd Arif 3-73, Ryan Ninan 3-31, Amit Varma 3-7) and 73/4 in 20.4 overs (Abhinav Mukund 25).
Vidarbha: 114/9 and 158/9 in 33.5 overs (Gaurav U 37; Sony Cheruvathur 4-36) lt to Kerala: 280 all out in 86.2 overs and (Sambasiva Sharma 60, Sebastian Antony 63, K JRakesh 52, Sreekumar Nair 35; Gaurav Uppadhyaya 6-86).
Combined Districts: 316/6 in 90 overs and 9/2 in 2 overs vs Hyderabad: 218 all out in 85.5. overs (Anoop Pai 49, Avinash Kumar 38; A Avinash 3-43, C Suresh 3-61).
Australian Insitute of Sports 125 and 208/6 in 45 overs (Luke Pomers Bach 52, Craig Philipson 45; Rahul Kanwat 3-50) bt Rajasthan 83 and 217 all out in 45 overs (Anshu Jain 63, Rahul Kanwat 43, Rajesh Bishnoi 33 n.o; Brandon Drew 5-32, Steve Smith 4-85).
Baroda: 209 all out in 80.4 overs (Shatrunjay Gaekwad 44, Ketan Panchal 49; Asif Ali 3-40) vs Madhya Pradesh: 185/9 in 87 overs (Rahul Bakshi 58, Sanjay Pande 33; Ketan Panchal 2-30).
Gujarat: 283/7 in 90 overs and 189/7 in 45 overs (Hem Joshipura 64, Timal Patel 71 n.o; Kamal Das 5-54) vs Tripura: 157 all out 41.4 overs (Nirupam Sen Chowdhary 62 n.o, Tapan Sutradar 30; Anupam Patel 4-27).
Assam: 222 all out in 87.2 overs (Sourav Bhagavati 66, Zuffri Zakaria 52, , Shaib Shankar Roy 32; Iqbal Abdullah 4-40, Vikrant Yelligatti 4-56) vs Mumbai: 315/7 in 87 overs (Sahil Kukreja 92, Vinayak Mane 98, Hiken Shah 27, Vinneer Indulkar 35, Prasanth Naik 50 n.o).
Punjab: 314 all out in 89.3 overs and 180/1 in 31 overs (Sunny Sohal 95, Mayank Sibena 60) vs Andhra: 161 all out in 58.4 overs (M Suresh 70; Varun Khanna 4-35, Sharabjit Singh 4-42).
