Mrityunjaya Nayak, member of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NSCS) said he will direct the Social Welfare Commissioner, Baburao Mudabi to make sure the funds earmarked by the State government to various departments is utilised in the right manner.
He was addressing the media on his visit to the State on Saturday. He also said that he will write to the departments concerned to confirm the services of the pourakarmikas.
Terming his visit to Karnataka a fruitful one, Mr Nayak said that the NCSC wanted to reach out to the grassroots level to understand the problems of the SC community. He, however, added that the Commission will be able to function effectively only if it is given adequate powers. Mr Nayak will be back in the City on September 17 and interact with state officials again.
