Nagas Give up Demand For Self-rule
Kohima, Aug 26.
The Naga Peoples Convention here today decided to give up formally the demand for independence.
A five-day convention, representing various Naga tribes was held here. The convention adopted a resolution on the concluding day today empowering an eight-man delegation to meet the Assam Governor “with a view to arriving at a satisfactory political settlement by remaining within the Indian Union”.
Rs 50 Basic Pay For Teachers
Bangalore, Aug 26.
The Government of Mysore has passed orders fixing the basic salary of teachers with SSLC qualification at Rs 50 permensem.
A press note said: Government in its Order dated Jan 25, sanctioning general revision of scales of pay, has laid down that middle schools teachers with SSLC qualification be allowed the revised pay of Rs 50-3-80-4-100 with effect from Jan 1.

No Decision Yet On Neutrals’ Meet Venue: Gandhi
Maputo, Aug 26.
Prime Minister Indira Gandhi today said that no final decision had yet been taken about the venue of the seventh non-aligned countries summit.
Addressing a press conference here, Ms Gandhi said, both Iraq and Iran had approached India for holding this summit but no final decision had as yet been taken.
