As India turns 60, three youngsters —Debraj Banerjee, Devidas Menon and Praveen Unni — under the banner of Desvio's, have embarked on an adventure from Bangalore to the borders of the country on August 26.
These three techies, through their adventurous tour hope to trace the footprints of history and capture the distinctive culture of the dangerous boundaries. They are on a first-of-its-kind journey seeking the meaning of freedom.
The bike ride
Their 12,000-km motorcycle ride, spanning 35 days, would take them close to the Indo-Sino borders and the Indo-Pak borders and close to the civilians living in and around. They would also be staying in Kargil and Drass to get a firsthand experience of the dangers soldiers face.
They would be documenting their journey and would eventually make a video of it. The video will be titled as ‘Legend.’
This is the first time we’re going on such an adventure, Debraj Banerjee told Metrolife. “We heard so much about the harsh life on borders and have watched films made on life on the borders. So we want to see it first hand and speak to the people and bring back memories,” he said.
Debraj says he and his friends will meet army officers and civilians and ride deep down in unexplored areas and capture life at its best and at its worst.
This trip is just the beginning of a seven-stage odyssey. More adventurous rides — like the INA trail (tracking the route of the Indian National Army during the independence struggle, spanning across Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar and India), Silicon circuit (a trip from the Indian IT capital to the American tech city), — will follow, assures Debraj.
