The rakhi that three sisters of a family fondly bought for their brother will remain untied.
Tragedy struck the sisters — Sravanti, Srilekha and Suseel — residents of Uppal locality when they were killed while having ‘chaat’ at the famous Gokul eatery in the second of the twin blasts.
Just a few minutes before, they had bought a rakhi for their brother at a nearby shop in the Kothi area on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan festival on Tuesday.
The women members of the family wept inconsolably as they saw the bodies.
The blasts also claimed an entire family in Humayun Nagar locality.
Mohammed Saleem (40), a real estate businessman, died in the blasts along with his wife and two young children. A pall of gloom descended on Golconda apartments, where the family lived, when the bodies arrived this morning.
It was shock and disbelief to many Hyderabadis, especially the relatives of the victims of the deadly blasts as the dead were identified.
“This is terrible. Nothing like this should happen again,” was the refrain of many people.
“This is really sad. We fear that such blasts can happen again,” Santosh, a college student, and his friends said at the picturesque Hussain Sagar lake near Lumbini Park, the scene of the first blast.
“Earlier, Hyderabad was a safe city. But, now it seems we are no longer safe,” said Swati, a software professional.

Pune, PTI: The Hyderabad blasts claimed the lives of seven students from Maharashtra who were on an industrial tour of the city on Saturday.
The students numbering 45 from Amritwahini College at Sangamner in Ahmednagar district, had left for Hyderabad on August 23 by a bus and were enjoying the show at Lumbini Park Laserium when the auditorium was struck by the devastating explosion, college officials said. The students were to leave Hyderabad for Sangamner on Saturday after the laser show.
Five more students were undergoing treatment at Medicity hospital for injuries. A pall of gloom descended on the college campus.
Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Balasaheb Thorat, who is on Amritwahini College board of directors, has rushed to Hyderabad to meet the group.
