The main intention was to drive a wedge among different communities and hence they selected the busy Koti area where members of a particular community, were in large numbers,  police sources said.
The blast at the amphitheatre, a few meters away from the high Security State Secretariat had created a big crater after ripping apart the chairs and creating havoc among the holiday crowd witnessing the laser show, they said, adding that half kg RDX had been used to create such a big blast.
The blast intensity at Gokul Chat also showed that RDX had probably been used, they said, adding the bombs had been placed well above the ground to cause maximum loss of life.
Analysing the nature of the twin blasts and the one that was triggered in Mecca Masjid on May 18, they said the same group had struck in both the places. In Mecca Masjid, the terrorists had placed the tiffin box bomb close to the prayer floor, leading to lesser number of casualties.
