Dalit Sangharsha Samiti staged a protest in front of town municipal under the leadership of Taluk Dalit Sangharsha Samiti Convener Lakshmikanth pressing for the rehabilitation for Handi jogi community members who are in pathetic condition. They demanded the government to improve their standard of living. 

Though the local administration was asked to provide rehabilitation for poor people who have been leading their life through pig  farming in the town, since many years , no improvement has taken place till now so far. The authority concerned should provide the accommodation facility on the outskirts of the town.

They must be provided with the facility for pig farming, he said. But, unfortunately pigs which have been the source of there livelihood are being killed  on the outskirts of the town which is heinous act. The authority concerned should stop the killing of pigs and provide proper facility to them, he demanded.

City convener Ranganath said though many slaughter houses located on major roads of the town  spoiling the environment, the town municipal hasn't taken any action in this regard.  Moreover, the local administration has turned a blind eye to street dog menace. Sadly, the authority concerned has taken action against Handi jogis, he added. 

Nagaraju, Bhutaiah, Narasimhaiah, Mallikarjuna and others were present on the occasion.  Town Municipal commissioner  assured that facilities would be provided to the community members at the earliest.  Sira Home guard Force Unit Officer Revanna Siddeshwara has congratulated Shivakumar on being honoured with Rashtrapati medal.
