The members of the native of Bangalore residents Welfare association staged a protest and laid siege the office of the Medical officer at Tumkur, demanding post-mortem again of Hemavathi.

Hemavathi, daughter of Lakshmamma from Chakenahalli of Kunigal taluk had died after two months of her marriage. 

The post-mortem report of Hemavathi said that it was suicide. Lakshmamma led by the villagers rejected the post-mortem report and said that she was murdered demanding more dowry at her husband’s home and pressed for further action.
