A state-level rally would be held on September 1, in protest against the atrocities against Dalit Christians. The protest would also demand reservation in the government and private sector, to all the Dalits.
State Co-ordinator of the Karnataka Dalit Christ Federation Y Mariswamy announced this at a press conference on Monday. The rally will be flagged off by Varthoor Prakash, Union Minister K H Muniappa will preside, legislator K R Ramesh Kumar, G V Sriram Reddy ad others are expected to participate in the rally.
Condemning the attack on Dalit christians by the Bajarangdal on Sunday in Malur, the leader said that those guilty must be brought to book. He also added that the police who involved with the culprits must also be punished.
He demanded that the recommendations made by Justice Ranganath Mishra committee constituted by the Central government should be enforced. Reservations should be made mandatory in the private sector and a dalit leader should be given a seat in the Rajya Sabha” he said.
