Deputy Forest Officer B B Mallesh has issued a show-cause notice to Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Shankar G Bhat on the controversial statement that Mr Bhat made recently.
Mr Bhat had suggested the tusker menace victims to shoot the elephants rather than busting crackers to ward them off.
Mr Bhat had made this statement at meeting held under presidentship of MP D V Sadananda Gowda recently. Taking a serious note in this direction, Mr Mallesh has issued a notice to Mr Bhat, seeking his clarifications.
“I had never suggested him such ideas. I am very much disappointed by his statement,” said Mr Mallesh, when contacted by Deccan Herald.
In the meantime, Chief Conservator of Forests, I B Srivastava will visit the area on Aug 29 to examine the wild elephant menace.
