Rifle training, in a healthy environment can bring about discipline, control and build personal confidence, said Commissioner of Police Bhaskar Rao.
He was speaking at the valedictory function of the civilians rifle training programme in Mysore on Sunday.
He said the week-long training programme had been an attempt at testing the police department and to see how receptive the Mysore citizens were to such an endeavour.
“We have got a good response,” he said, adding that more training programmes of this kind would be organised for college students, housewives, lawyers, traders and many other sectors, to give them lessons on self defence, as well as to improve interactions with them.
“Times are changing, we have to market the police services as well,” he said. Also the suggestions put forward by the participants would be used to better the next training programme, he said.
