Thoughts are like living beings bubbling inside so be careful with them because they may become events of your life! It is an exitential law. If you throw a ball, it is bound to fall down on the ground. There is nothing you can do about it, the law of gravity takes over.
Similarly there are thoughts that have deep roots inside you for they stem from your feelings, strong desires or will. These thoughts are potential trees. If their seeds are planted in the consciousness, they motivate us to act upon them. The energy in these thoughts forms a nucleus.
The energy that is vibrating in these thoughts creates situations around us in which the thought can materialize. For example, if somebody has a strong desire of going to the U.S. it creates circumstances around him that help his desire being fulfilled.
But weak thoughts like daydreaming will not become things. There are some requirements which help thoughts materialize. Osho's insight is: "Thoughts become things, once you leave them alone. And that's a great art. If you put a seed in the earth and you go every day in the morning and take it out and see whether it is sprouting or not, it will never sprout. Leave it.
You have given it the right soil; now forget all about it. In its own time, its own season, it will come. One day you will be surprised; you had completely forgotten it, but it was working underneath, underground.
"And it is the same with thoughts. Each thought is a potential possibility. Just drop it inside your consciousness and forget about it. In the right time, the right season, suddenly it will surprise you. It has been collecting energy, momentum, choosing, directing, and suddenly one day you see it is there. It has become a realised fact."
This is true of all good thought as well as bad thoughts. When somebody commits a murder, everybody is surprised that such a docile man or woman how could he/she do it?
Or suddenly someone would start painting or learning music, and achieves great heights in it. This thought was germinated long ago, what the world is seeing is its sprouts.
The luminous energy field of consciousness contains an archive of all our personal memories, of all early-life trauma. These records or imprints are stored in the mind and compel us toward behaviours. But it needs tremendous patience, waiting.
Kabir has expressed it in a beautiful couplet. " O my mind, everything will happen slowly at the right time. The gardner waters the plant with a hundred buckets but the fruit only comes at the time of fruition."
