Kalkura Prathishtana will organise a State-level ‘Shree Krishna Vesha’ (fancy dress) competition at Kadri Shri Manjunatha Temple premises on September 3 at 2 pm onwards.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, Kalkura Prathishtana President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said the competitions are being organised with an intention to develop the religious and cultural awareness and to encourage the hidden talents of the children.
The competitions will be held in ‘Rajangana,’ ‘Abhishek hall’ and ‘Kalyan mantap’ for the convenience of the participating children simultaneously.
Mr Kalkura said the competition will be held in seven categories: ‘Muddukrishna’ (for toddlers under three years and mothers are allowed to come on the stage along with the participants); ‘Balakrishna’ (for kids from Anganwadi and LKG), ‘Kishora Krishna ‘ (for children from UKG and I std); ‘Sri Krishna’ (for II, III and IV standard children); ‘Yakshakrishna’ (for children upto VII std, participants have to wear only Yakshagana costumes);
‘Radhakrishna’ (children upto VII std); Sri Krishna quiz (quiz related to Lord Krishna for children upto VII std); ‘Yashoda Krishna’ (There is no age restriction. Any woman can participate with a child with action, like mother as Yashodha and child as Krishna).
Mr Kalkura said that in order to develop interest in Yakshagana, the Prathishtana is organising ‘Yakshakrishna’ competition wherein only Yakshagana costumes with ‘Pagadi Kedage’ and ‘Mandale’ are allowed.
He said all the participating child will be honoured with an panchaloha idol if Kadagolu Krishna, books relating to the story of Sri Krishna, certificate, photo of Lord Manjunatha and prizes sponsored by sponsors with an attractive cloth bag.
He said a special arrangement has been made for the group photo of the participants in their Krishna vesha costumes in front of the high mast light pole at Kadri temple. Even mentally retarded and other disabled children are encouraged to participate.
Inauguration
The programme will commence at 1.15 pm with devotional flute music by Arjun Priyadarshini Krishna Pavan Kumar. Child artists of Dr K Shivarama Karantha Yakshagana Kendra, Saligrama, will perform demo on Badagu Thittu Yakshagana and Thenkuthittu Yakshagana Geetha Vaibhava on the occasion.
