The Dubare forest officers on Tuesday rescued a 20 days old female elephant calf near Dubare Forest region. The rescued calf has been taken to Mysore Zoo.
The calf was found stranded between a river near Dubare and was fighting for survival. The local residents who noticed the calf informed Zonal Forest officer M S Chinappa who immediately rushed to the spot with staff members Sannappa, Vijay Kumar and Chiyanna. The officers reached the calf with the help of a boat and rescued the female calf.
She was brought to Dubare forest camp and was provided with milk. After she recovered she was sent to Mysore Zoo. The local residents say that the calf must have come to the river bank with its mother.
