The Duchess of Cornwall will spend the Diana memorial day on Friday walking alone in the mountains after her worst row with Prince Charles since their marriage over her decision not to attend the royal ceremony to mark the Princess of Wales’ tenth death anniversary. She is again feeling like “Public Enemy No 1”, British tabloid The Sun said.
The 60-year-old Duchess will stay at Prince Charles’ Birkhall estate in Aberdeenshire while the Royal Family and millions of Britons remember Diana on Friday.
According to the Daily Mail, Camilla felt she had been let down by her husband and his advisers, who repeatedly reassured her that it would be “appropriate” to attend the Princess Diana memorial ceremony.
She was particularly angry that courtiers allowed matters to drag along for so long, making her 11th-hour decision not to attend Friday’s service seem the result of being boxed into a corner — when the truth was that she had grave misgivings about attending.
