We are trying a new approach: Collingwood
Fearless attitude pays off
DH News Service, Edgbaston:
After their glorious win in the Test series, India were perceived to be the favourite in the one-day series. But the three-match-old NatWest Series has seen a resurgent England, eager to win at all cost.

England skipper Paul Collingwood attributed the change in trend to a new fearless attitude.
"We are getting scores of around 300 all the time and that shows we are improving. We have always said the best way to play one-day cricket is with a fearless attitude,” Collingwood said.
“It is getting filtered into our bloodstream. It is still early days, but the lads have been exceptional in the series," he added.
New tactics
"We tried to have a new approach after I took over captaincy and introduced some new tactics. I have already said that to play good cricket you need to set a pattern. We are doing that at this moment," Collingwood explained.
The Durham player, a little surprisingly, did not single out the excellent fielding of his team as the reason behind their success.
"The way we fielded was fantastic and we saved probably 25 or 30 runs while fielding alone and that's important in one-day cricket. But I'm not too sure that our fielding was not the lone cause,” he said.
Good start
“I think all three departments did well. As I said the openers came in and gave us a good start and then the bowlers also delivered. It did get difficult against spinners with the ball stopping a bit in the middle overs, but to get 280 was an incredible effort," he said.
Collingwood, who played a crucial knock of 44 and took two wickets and catches apiece in the third match at Edgbaston, expressed happiness over the development of pace bowler Chris Tremlett.
The towering paceman dismissed Indian skipper Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly in quick succession to break a flowing third wicket partnership that almost snatched the match away from the home side.
"From what you have seen in this match you can make out that Tremlett has got the character to bounce back. We have a lot of faith in him. He didn't start off too well, but came back and took real important wickets at real important times," Collingwood said.
"Tremlett is quite relaxed to be honest. He is quite laid back, and he showed it in the Test matches. He is a huge guy bowling with a lot of aggression at times. He bowled a few bouncers and that's why he got a couple of crucial wickets," he added.
Collingwood hoped that all-rounder Andrew Flintoff will be back in action as soon as possible.
"Obviously, it was a decision (not to play Flintoff in the Edgbaston game) made by the medical staff. He's desperate to play on Thursday. Obviously we've got two more months of play coming up so we've to be careful with him," he said.
