Shanthiniketan post big win
Sachin’s five-wicket haul helped Shanthiniketan Trust drub Sai Vidyakendra by 96 runs in the Boost Cup (U-17) cricket tournament on Tuesday. Chasing Shanthinketan’s 154, Sai Vidyakendra could manage only 58 with Sachin running through their batting with figures of 5-19.
Brief scores:
Sri Aurobindo Memorial School: 153 all out in 34.5 overs (Rithesh 26, Anantha Krishna 30; Akshay Chopra 3-37, S Yankesh 5-28) lt to BBUL Jain Vidyalaya: 155 for 3 in 22 overs (Dilip Shendke 29, Bhavesh Gulecha 30).
Shanthinketan Trust (Mico Layout): 154 all out in 30 overs (Arun 3-31, Adithya 4-39) bt Sai Vidyakendra: 58 all out in 17 overs (Sachin 5-19).
BEL High School: 250/7 in 45 overs (Chandan 31, N Adithya 95, Vishukanth 41) bt Cathedral High School: 215 all out in 38.2 overs (Siddarth 36, Akshay 56; Adithya 3-32).
Delhi Public School (North): 94/8 in 25 overs lt to St. John's High School: 95 for 2 in 18.1 overs (Gideon 28 n.o).
State chess meet from August 31
United Karnataka Chess Association will conduct the State chess tournament (U-19) from August 31 to September 2 at the State Youth Centre. The tournament serves as selection trials for the National U-19 championship to be held in Aurangabad. Entries are accepted at the venue on August 31 till  9.00 am. B’ball tourney from Sept 1
Kensri school will conduct the U-10 Futures basketball tournament from September 1 at the school premises in Mariyannapalya from 10 am. Last date for receiving entries is August 31, For further details, contact: 6560 4705.
ATF junior meet at Bowring
The Bowring Institute in association with Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association will host an under-14 Asian Tennis Federation junior ranking tournament in Bangalore from September 22.
The organisers are expecting more than 100 contestants from several Asian countries including Thailand, China, Korea, Sri Lanka besides all over the host nation for the one-week event held for both boys and girls.
The qualifying rounds will be held on September 22 and 23 while the main draw will commence from September 24.
Five courts are being relaid at the Bowring Institute as part of the event. Organisers also informed that tennis clinics will be conducted by reputed players during the tournament.
