Unique International School (UIS) established in the year 2004 is an emerging new generation English medium co-education school at Malur town. Malur, a mofussil town in Kolar district borders Bangalore. Malur railway station is next to Whitefield on Bangalore-Chennai track.
The school focuses on providing a nurturing environment for children. The school is managed by Universal Educational Trust. Mr N Manjunath is the secretary of the trust. He says "the trust is formed to establish educational institutions to eligible students to generate quality manpower and responsible citizens". In addition to the school the trust runs coaching camps for the benefit of CET, KPSC, UPSC aspirants. It also conducts spoken English classes, Vedic mathematics classes and a host of youth service and welfare programmes for young men and women.
The UIS offers an ICSE based curriculum and runs classes at the pre-primary and primary levels in the English medium. In addition to the normal areas of studies like language, science, Maths and social science special emphasis is laid on the human development areas. Creative writing, fine arts, dance and music, drawing and painting, sculpture, pottery, dramatics, interior design and decoration are all a part of the activities at the school. Specialists from Bangalore are invited to the school and special trainings are provided for the school children.
The school also has activities like yoga, meditation, nature ramble, which have caught the fancy of parents.
All these activities are held as part of the curriculum. The school organises Samanvaya’ - an annual literary, cultural and sports event.
