Registration must

Tumkur, dhns: The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board has made it compulsory for all the government aided and unaided highschools to compulsorily register the names of the students studying in the eighth standard with the board, said block education officer.

The last dates for registering the names is August 31, said a release to the head masters. Those who have not registered should approach the block education office for more information and register within Aug 31. If it is not done, then the head masters will be held responsible, warned the BEO.

19 gamblers arrested

Turuvekere, dhns: 19 people were arrested for gambling and a sum of Rs 17, 840 was recovered from them in a joint operation conducted by Turuvekere and Dandinashivara police. Inspector Abdul Khader, sub inspectors Krishnaraju and Girish Nayak and staff conducted the raid on a farm house near K Mavinahalli where they were found gambling.

Including the main accused Vasu and Prakash the 19  were produced in the court.
