LG Electronics, leading manufacturer of consumer electronics goods, on Thursday, announced the launch of a range of full metal-bodies cell-phone from the premium black level series of mobile phones.
The two new premium GSM mobile handsets from its black label series are LG Shine slider phone priced at Rs 15,999 and LG Shine bar phone priced at Rs 8,999.
The launch of LG Shine—claimed to be India’s first and only full metal bodies cell-phone with multi function scroll key—is part of LG’s strategy to capture a bigger share in India’s GSM market, LG India Managing Director Moon B Shin told reporters here.
The company plans to target GSM mobile business in India since its CDMA market share was deteriorating due to flooding of Chinese products. The company also plans to make India an export hub for Middle East and Africa in GSM category.
“We don’t think CDMA is a profitable here in India, the company is loosing a lot of money and profits are going down due to low cost models coming from China,” Mr Shin observed.
