Sanjay case: Attempt to gather sympathy Sir, Everyone is sympathetic towards Sanjay Dutt and aver that he has suffered a lot for the last 14 years. But what about others who were jailed for lifetime even after suffering the 14 year trial? There were many who didn't have top lawyers to defend their case. In comparison, Sanjay Dutt had an easy and free life.Even if we consider Sanjay Dutt to be a nationalistic person and not a terrorist or anti national, few questions still remain - Why would he allow strangers to keep arms at his residence? Why would people like Abu Salem and Anees Ibrahim approach Dutt to keep weapons? This relationship proved to be decisive in the end.
Unfortunately people are getting lured away by his "Gandhigiri" act. This was an attempt to gather sympathy from a cross section of the society who are gullible to such cheap gimmicks. AMJAD K MARUF

Judge’s words Sir, "However high may you be, the law is above you" was a wise observation made by a Supreme Court Judge, while dealing with the case of a powerful politician years ago. This is exactly what happened to Sanjay Dutt.
The trial Judge P D Kode while handing over the sentence was very kind in dealing with him. He allowed him to be on bail even after conviction on November 28th for over 8 months.
Having sentenced him to 6 years imprisonment, he correctly declined to grant him any time. The Judge’s comforting words are very compassionate and praise worthy. P J Bagilthaya

Das Munsi act Sir, The Congress distancing itself from P R Das Munsi's stance on the Sanjay Dutt verdict is only for public consumption.
His heart check up statement indicates that he has the tacit approval of like minded people in the party. The I & B Minister’s taking up cudgels on behalf of Dutt is unwarranted. Why has Das Munsi not taken up the issue of Dutt's colleagues in crime and as well as that of persons judged to be hanged? I feel he must undergo an “angiogram”to ensure he has no blocks in his heart! A S Raj

Justice prevails Sir, Everybody is equal before law, whether he is President, Prime minister or a common man. This has been aptly established in sentencing Sanjay Dutt to six years in jail by the TADA court.
The TADA court judgment has further strengthened the belief in the judicial system prevailing in Indian courts.
The credit goes to the TADA court headed by P D Kode who cemented the belief of the common man in the judicial system. B S Raghavendra Rao

Ultimate sacrifice Sir, Colonel Vasanth V made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. He had so much to live for. He gave up his dreams, his beautiful family, and his parents - all for our country. This sacrifice should not go in vain.
Let the media focus on heroes like him who protect our country with their lives, so that we civilians may sleep in peace. This should be an inspiration not just for our children and youth, but every Indian. Anupama Urs
