Concerts

The following music concerts will be held at Kamat Bugle Rock, Bull Temple Road: Hindustani vocal by Gouri Bhat (August  3, 8 pm to 10 pm), Carnatic violin by Dr Nataraj Murthy (Aug 3, 8 pm to 10 pm), Caarnatic Sitar by P K Subramanyam (Aug 5, 1 pm to 3 pm), Carnatic violin by Jayashri Giridhar (Aug  5, 8 pm to 10 pm).

Variety concerts

The Bangalore Gayana Samaj as a part of its foundation day is organising a series of concerts from August 5 to 12 at its premises on K R Road as follows: Flute by Shashank (Aug 5, 6 pm), vocal by Neyveli Santhanagopalan (Aug 6, 6 pm) vocal by M S Sheela (Aug 7, 6 pm), Santoor by Satish Vyas (Aug 8, 6 pm), sarod by Dr Rajeev Taranath (Aug 8, 7.45 pm), vocal by Vijay Siva (Aug 9, 6 pm), violin duet by Mysore M Nagaraj and Mysore M Manjunath (Aug 10, 6 pm), vocal by Sanjay Subramanian (Aug 11, 6 pm) and vocal duet by Malladi Brothers (Aug 12, 6 pm).

DANCE

Dance-drama

Ponnaiah Lalithakala Academy is staging Vidwan S Rudramurthy Sastry’s “Mayaleela”, yakshagana by Karnataka Kala Darshini and Bharatanatyam performance by disciples of Padmini Rao at Paramparaa, Art and Culture Resource Development Centre, No 8 3rd Main, 8th Cross, CKA Layout, Banashankari III Stage, III Phase on August 3 at 6.15 pm.

Odissi performance

The Indian Council of Cultural Relations is organising a thematic Odissi presentation, “Krishna” by Sharmila Mukerjee and the artistes of Sanjali on August 3 at 6.30 pm at Yavanika, State Youth Centre, Nrupatunga Road.

Bharatanatyam

The Indian Institute of World Culture is organising a Bharatanatyam performance by Kavya Shanmugam on August 5 at 6 pm at the Institute premises located at No 6, B P Wadia Road, Basavagudi.

ART

Painting exhibition

Right Lines Art Gallery is organising, “The child within”, an exhibition of paintings by Subhash Pal from August 4 and 17 at the Gallery premises located at 270, 1st floor, 1st main, Defence Colony, Indiranagar.

Group show

Gallery Hues is organising a group art show on August 4 and 5 at Rain Tree, No 4 Sankey Road Opposite the ITC Windsor from 11 am to 8 pm. Among the prominent participating artists are  Arvind Kolapkar, Azis TM, Bala Bhatha Raju, Basuki Dasgupta, Gayatri, Jai Zarotia, Jiten Hazarika, Laxman Aelay and Manu Parekh.

DRAMA

Kannada play

Maanasa is presenting a Vaidehi’s Kannada play, “Alegalalli Antaranga” directed by Krishnamurthy Kavattar on August 3 at 7.30 pm at Ranga Shankara, 36/2, 8th cross, J P Nagar, 2nd phase.

Humour show

Rotary Bangalore Orchards is organising a humour show, Hasna Zaruru hai with Navin Prabhakar on August 5 at 7 pm at Sheesh Mahal, Palace Grounds, Bellary Road Entrance. For donor passes call or SMS ‘pass’ to 9845865042 or 9845864903.

Activity meet

Book launch

British Council and Unisun Publications is launching Winners Vol 3 containing prize winning entries of The Writers’ Circle Prize and Unisun Creative Writing Competition. The following books will be released: Ettukettu Stories by T C Narayan, Shadows in the Dark - four Plays by Sriranga translated by Usha Desai, Cup of Chai and Other Stories - a collection of  contemporary fiction and the The Silken Web - twenty-five modern Indian poets. The launch and the release will take place on August 4 at 6.30 pm at Mount Carmel Golden Jubilee Hall

Fashion Friday

Evoluzione’s Fashion Fridays this week (Aug 3) showcases collections of designers Tarun Tahiliani, Malini Ramani and Malaga, 11 am onwards, at  No 14, Vittal Mallya Road.

Jewellery exhibition

RainTree is hosting a jewellery exhibition by designers Rachna and Anju Mehra from Delhi on August 3 and 4. The collection includes emeralds, garnets, blue sapphires, citrine, pink tourmaline and pearls set in 18 carat gold, besides diamonds. The exhibition is on at the RainTree, opposite ITC Windsor.
