Man beaten for sodomising teen
A man, who allegedly sodomised a 14-year-old boy, was thrashed by villagers after the victim’s parents complained the matter before the Magla village panchayat, reports PTI from Muzaffarnagar.
The man, Ahsan, confessed to the crime and was beaten here on Wednesday following orders by the panchayat.
Teacher’s beating kills kid
A teenage school student died in Udaipur district on Thursday after allegedly being beaten by his teacher. Arpit, 17, who was admitted to a hospital on Wednesday died of his injuries, reports PTI from Jaipur.
The father of the teenager has registered an FIR in which he alleged that his son was badly beaten by the school teacher on July 26 and his death was caused by the assault, police said. Post-mortem report results are awaited to ascertain the cause of the death, he said.
Call girl racket busted
Police have busted a prostitution racket operating out of an education campus in Jaipur and arrested two alleged call girls and four men in this connection,  PTI reports from Jaipur.
Acting on a tip off about the racket, a police team raided the guard room of ‘Siksha Sankul’, a state education campus and arrested the girls and the men, police said on Thursday.
Dog bites 20 people
A mad dog which went berserk has bitten 20 people in Dolapet village on Thursday, UNI reports from Srikakulam (Andhra Pradesh). According to the Municipal Commissioner B Venkata Ramana, the canine first bit one E Polamma and later entered a house in the same locality where it bit two children. It went berserk after the local residents chased it and attacked every passer by, and ended up attacking 20 residents.
CoP vows to wipe out rowdyism
Chennai’s new Commissioner of Police (CoP) Nanchil Kumaran said on Thursday said that his first priority would be to eliminate rowdyism and ease traffic congestion, PTI reports from Chennai. He said he would live up to the expectations of the general public and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
