? I am a 15 year-old girl. I weigh 58 kg and am 5’4’’. I want to grow tall. Are there any exercises which help in growth? Please don't tell I'll grow till 18. Please help as I want to take up modelling as hobby!
Growing tall depends on three important factors. Firstly, it is your genetic make-up. If your father/ mother or grandfather are tall, then you have a good chance of inheriting their height. Secondly it is the amount of activity you put into your day (especially when you are young) that also determines height. Thirdly, it is the quality and quantity of food that you have been consuming since you were 4 or 5 years old that counts to your attainable height. It is true however, that females in general grow only till they are 18 or 19 years old, while males have the advantage of growing till 22 to 24. Please keep yourself active, play a sport or two, go swimming whenever possible and eat nourishing foods, like fruits, vegetables, greens, milk and curds.
? I am 19 years old I weigh 73 kg and my height is 5’4’’. I am a thyroid patient since 6 years. I want to reduce my weight but don't know what is the proper way. Help me.
I completely understand your frustration about wanting to lose weight. Firstly, to make the task simpler, I want you to understand that it is important to come to terms with the fact that you have thyroid, which makes losing weight just a tad more difficult, but not impossible, because impossible is nothing, right? So, if you are on thyroid medication (exogenous thyroxine) you must have realised that your weight fluctuates without warning. Thus, in order to control this erratic occurrence, the best solution is exercise, religious and diligent exercise. Go ahead and walk, or run or climb stairs. The fabulous thing about exercise in thyroid conditions is that, while balancing the hormonal levels in the blood it also strengthens the bones. Bones are a major target for excretion of their calcium, which results in weak and fragile bones, making you prone to fractures. All this can be alleviated through exercise. Eating the right amount of salt (6 gms or so) will help in producing that iodine required to make thyroxine within the bio system.
