For all you Bangalore One (B1) aficionados heres more good news. The popular one-stop-shop citizen service centres would soon be available at your doorstep.
Sources in the E-governance secretariat said that a pilot project wherein a ‘BangaloreOne’ mobile van equipped with wireless broadband connectivity would soon hit the roads. “The project is being seriously considered as a proposal to take the centres right to the doorsteps of those wanting to make use of e-initiatives. The van will be equipped with four computers to accept e-services” said officials.
There’s more icing on the cake. The Directorate of Electronic Delivery of Citizen Services (EDCS) is in the process of taking over information kiosks of the Bangalore Development Authoritry (BDA) to establish 20 ‘Mini Bangalore One’s’.
Officials said BDA that had constructed kiosks at its shopping complexes across the City to offer e-information on payment of property taxes. It however found it unviable to operate them in new layouts. So BDA has outsourced them to Bangalore One.
EDCS is also proposed to be extended to newly added wards of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. Sources say availability of space for establishing new centres was the only hitch in opening Bangalore One beyond the core areas of the City.
“Now the government has agreed to pay rent. We are in the process of hunting for locations. We opened a centre at MS Building for the benefit of State government staff last week.
Another centre would be opened soon at the National Games Housing
Village in Koramangala” officials added.
The e-governance department is also toying with the idea of introducing a concept of cash-cards. Akin to a prepaid SIM recharge coupon, these cards are for dedicated BangaloreOne users .
“The concept is to popularise cash-less transactions. Consumers can purchase cards in the denominations of Rs 100, 500 and 1,000 and use them to make payments at our centres or even make purchases in supermarkets when introduced” officials added.
