In an effort to achieve the vision of a cleaner and greenery Yelahanka, members of the women’s wing of Citizens’ Forum,Yelahanka New Town, launched a campaign to create awareness among the residents of the township on the urgent need for effective disposal of garbage.
A seminar on garbage disposal was organised at Mallya Aditi International School, Yelahanka New Town, on Sunday.
Many doctors and teachers at the seminar pledged to disseminate the message of protecting environment to the larger public. Students of Aditi Mallya School also took part in the event and displayed many informative posters on environment conservation and garbage disposal methods.
They also touched on other environmental issues and energy conservation techniques and emphasised on the need to reduce the usage of articles made of non degradable substances.
Environmental Engineer of BBMP Byatarayanapura zone, Shivakumar said, BBMP will start a door to door garbage collection scheme in the entire City shortly, after which all the BBMP dustbins will be removed from the roads. Prof Sangunni from the Indian Institute of Science also spoke on the occasion.
