Jilla Budakattu Krishikara Sangha President J P Raju informed that 50 tribals from Kodagu district will participate in the ‘Hakkothaya Samavesha’ at Bangalore on August 6.
According to a press releaseissued by the Sangha, the convention will comprise of representatives from small farmers, agricultural labourers, Dalits, tribals, women, fishermen, weavers, those dwelling in slum areas and beedi labourers. Mr Raju urged the government to implement Forest Rights Act and to undertake various developmental works in the region where tribals live.
Owing to the pressure from globalisation, liberilsation and privatisation, the government is following anti-farmer and labourer policy.
As a reslt, the lives of Dalits, women, tribals, fishermen and unorganised labourers have been jeopardised, he alleged.
