Union Minister for state for projects M V Rajashekharan justified the amendment in the APMC Act and said that the amendment will benefit farmers in future.
He was speaking to the media at the 15th inauguration of the Basaveshwara Co-operative association here on Sunday.
Expressing his deep concern over the reduction in the quantity of food products, he said that many programmes have been organised by the central government to increase the quantity of food products including rice.
8 districts have been selected for growing 1,00,00,000 ton of rice in the state, M V Rajashekharan stated. He said that the state government has been asked increase 4 lakh tons of production in pulses.
