South Korea has asked Pakistan to help secure the release of its abducted nationals in Afghanistan after Kabul refused to free eight extremists as demanded by the Taliban in exchange for the 21 Koreans, local media reported here.
South Korean foreign minister Song Min-Soon has telephoned his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri and discussed with him the safe release of the hostages, a report here said quoting Korea Times newspaper.
South Korea’s ambassador to Pakistan, Kim Joo-seok, had called on pro-Taliban cleric and Jamiat-ul-Ulama-i-Islam leader Maulana Fazlur Rahman last Wednesday to seek his help.
