A joyous celebration
DHNS

The 620th Aradhana celebrations of Jayateertha, disciple of Madhwacharya, at the Uttaradi Math in Basavanagudi, was a grand affair. Sri Jayateertha is credited with the much revered work Nyaya Sudha, which students of Vedic studies who are followers of Madhwacharya’s philosophy are expected to know. The Math houses a replica of the original Brindavan built for the seer at Malkhed near Gulbarga.

The three-day Aradhana celebrations culminated in a colourful rathothsava (car procession) that wound its way through Uttaradi Math Road, Pampa Mahakavi Road and Vani Vilas Road in Basavanagudi on Saturday. The elders sang bhajans and recited shlokas as they walked in the procession. The students attached to the Math, numbering around 200, lit crackers, sang and danced as they led the rathothsava.

Over 7,000 devotees participated in the three-day celebrations with gusto. The festivities included singing bhajans, seminars on Jayateertha’s works and discourses, informed head of the Aradhana committee, Satyadhyanaacharya Katti.

Our photographer captured some of the action from the celebrations during the rathothsava. Below are some glimpses...
