Even as memories of the Udaipur incident pale into insignificance as yet another incident of corporal punishment, a student died after being beaten by his teacher, in the Kamalganj area of Farrukhabad district in Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday.
On August 3, a teacher at the Union High School in Ketha — Krishanpal alias Kishan Singh, hit Brijesh Prajapati of class VI for not studying a chapter.
Brijesh was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition, where he died on Sunday morning.
The accused teacher had been arrested and sent to jail, the police said.
Ten days ago, a 17-year-old student of a private school in Udaipur died after being thrashed by his teacher. He suffered from internal injuries in the ribs and a blood clot in his lungs. The Udaipur police had booked the teacher on a murder charge.
In yet another incident, in Hyderabad, a ten year-old-girl was given electric shocks by the Principal of the Good Shepherd International High School with a view of improving her academic performance. Last month, the headmaster of a private school in Mahbubnagar district was arrested for allegedly chaining a class III student.
