I started my DJ career when I was very young, barely fifteen. I have an obsession for glamour, nightlife, partying and music. I worked it into a career, studied DJing along with my academics and took on the professional name Lil B. Lil is a popular name among hip-hop artistes and B represents my own name Bhavini.
I love socialising, hobnobbing with celebrities and started spinning at well-known night clubs for ladies nights and hip-hop themed events. I have played in every major Indian city and even at certain locations abroad,” says the female DJ from Mumbai, who was in the City to spin a crowd of Bollywood enthusiasts at a nightclub recently. Now twenty, Lil B, as she is known, is the ultimate party person and her energy moves the crowd that she expertly rocks and spins to her tunes. Besides music, she loves food, loves to talk and loves bling — not necessarily in that order, she says.
The crowd jostling to get in to Radio One’s Bollywood themed night were all set to take a mid-week break and party the night away. ”I am taking a break from my tedious accounting work in the office and plan to return and finish up after a couple of hours of relaxation and music,“ said Sunil, an accountant who was tired of chasing deadlines and figures all day.
“We are a group of alumni members from a college meeting up for an evening of fellowship though we can’t hear much conversation, it’s nice to watch people do their thing on the dance floor so uninhibitedly,’’ say a group of old students from St Joseph’s College.
Along with Lil B was DJ Jasmeet and RJ Prithvi keeping the crowd energised. ‘‘We usually have a theme that is very Bollywood, but our special draw for this evening was the vivacious DJ Lil B and she knows how to work the crowd we didn’t go with a theme and just let the DJs and their music carry the evening,” says Neil Chauhan from Radio One.
