CanBank to have 24X7 call centre
Canara Bank on Monday said it would launch a 24X7 call centre, besides a host of products like e-card, by the end of August this year. The call centre would help customers get any information related to their accounts as well as carry out transactions. Initially, 320 branches of Canara Bank, which were functioning under CBS would have this facility, the bank said in Tiruchirapalli. It also plans to tie-up with financial and service sector institutions to start internal mobile banking services through SMS.

SyndBank’s new interest rates

Syndicate Bank has revised the rate of interest on NRE Term Deposits and FCNR(B) deposits with effect from August 1, 2007. Interest rates on NRE deposits for a period of one year to less than two years have been revised to 5.25 pc, two years to less than three years to 5.17 pc and for three to five years to 5.21 pc. In case of FCNR(B) deposits, the interest rate for USD deposits for tenure of one year to less than two years is 4.50 pc,  for 2 years to less than 3 years is 4.42 pc, for 3 years to less than 4 years is 4.46 pc, for 4 years to less than 5 years is 4.54 pc and for 5 years it will be 4.61 pc.

HAL 34th among world Top 100
The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) announced on Monday that it has climbed 11 notches up to reach the 34th position in the list of top 100 defence companies. The list, released by US-based Defense News Magazine, saw HAL improving its position from 45th with Lockheed Martin, Boeing, BAe Systems, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon occupying the top 5 slots respectively.

IndianOil gets new Director 
P K Chakraborti has taken over as Director (Pipelines) of Indian Oil Corporation (IndianOil) on Friday. Prior to his elevation to the Board level, he was Executive Director in the Corporate Office of IndianOil. He will be in charge of IndianOil’s 9,300 km network of crude oil and petroleum product pipelines.
