Lack of conviction among officials is affecting the total implementation of Kannada as administrative language said Chief Executive Officer of Cauvery Neeravari Nigama Puttamadaiah here on Monday. He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Kannada in administration’ workshop organised for for officials.
Addressing over 30 candidates from various government departments who had gathered to attend ‘Kannada in administration’ sessions spread over six days, Puttamadaiah said the state was forced to pass ordinance making use of Kannada compulsory while other states had implemented the language of land as their official language.
“Earlier, if we wrote to Centre in Kannada, the letter would go in circles. Either there would be no response or it would be delayed beyond our imagination. But, now the times have changed. If we write in Kannada, the centre is more than willing to accomodate it. The responses are written in crisp understandable and clean Kannada or English and there is no undue delay”, he said.
