Dangerous trend While a strong public opinion, ably backed by a proactive and dynamic media, is a healthy sign of a
vibrant democracy, in recent times we have the spectacle of the public overly interfering with the judicial process by either demanding instant justice or vociferously criticizing the judicial pronouncements of the courts in high profile cases.
Warning justifiable It was a reasonable and fully legal thing for the public prosecutor to warn against the attempted Bollywood campaign to bring pressure and ultimately reverse the courts decision in getting Sunjay Dutt out.
Take al-queda seriously Indian authorities should take seriously the reported vow of Al-Queda that it will attack the Indian Mission. Our politicians in the Government, the left, Muslims and secularists should not come in the way of handling this issue by the authorities.
An eye-opener The Home Ministry at the Centre as well as the State should look at the conditions at all prisons in the Country. The recent suicide committed by a depressed Inspector General of Police(DIG), Shri.B.S.Abbai at the Bangalore's Central Jail should be an eye opener.
