Jose Mourinho, the Chelsea coach, is in trouble with injury worries mounting. Losing to Manchester United in the Community Shield is the least of Mourinho’s worries after John Terry, Didier Drogba and Claude Makelele joined the injury list. Michael Ballack and Wayne Bridge are also on the injured list.



Zaheer Khan, the Indian paceman, could head for Worcestershire again next season. Mark Newton, the Worcester chief executive, said: “Without a moment of hesitation, if Zaheer Khan was available and decided that he wanted to play, then we would welcome him back.”
